In the Saudi Arabia seawater desalination wastewater treatment project, Ruidong Group's high-end air-cooled screw chiller units successfully contributed to the project's upgrade thanks to their precise adaptation to the local extreme climate, superior performance, comprehensive quality assurance and fully customized design.

Operating Conditions

The maximum temperature inside the local workshop reaches 50, and even 55under the outdoor shelter. The area frequently encounters sandstorms and strong winds, along with unstable rainfall and sudden downpours. The average ambient pressure is only 940mbar, and the relative humidity is 30%.

Unit Configuration

  • The unit compressor is of Hanbell brand.

  • For condensing fans, the top-tier Chinese brand - Kemao is adopted.

  • Ruidong's proprietary brand condensers and evaporators use high-efficiency threaded copper tubes. They can be flexibly designed according to working conditions, accurately matching the compressor to save energy, improve efficiency and extend service life.

  • The condenser is equipped with an anti-sandstorm metal filter screen and a special anti-corrosion thickened spraying process, effectively resisting sand and dust erosion and corrosion.

  • The electrical control system strictly complies with IEC standards, and all electrical components are marked with IEC.

  • The electrical control cabinet has an IP65W protection level, with outdoor rainproof and high-temperature resistance (+65℃) capabilities, adapting to complex outdoor environments.

  • The electrical control cabinet is equipped with a cooling device, which uses an independent refrigeration system for cooling and can withstand an outdoor environment of +65℃, further enhancing control accuracy and system reliability.

  • All motors have continuous starting capability, covering various operation modes, and can maintain stable operation under full load conditions, avoiding failures caused by load fluctuations.

  • Primary reverse osmosis softened water is used for refrigeration circulating water, which effectively reduces scale formation and internal corrosion of equipment, further prolonging the unit's service life and lowering later maintenance costs.

  • The unit is equipped with an advanced intelligent control system, and each unit is equipped with an independent PLC controller, enabling efficient coordination of centralized monitoring and decentralized control.

  • The voltage adapts to the user's requirement of AC480/277±10%V, 60HZ, and the rated insulation voltage reaches 690V.

  • The cables adopt American standard specifications, strictly meeting the phase color requirements (A/B/C phases are black, brown, gray respectively, and the ground wire is yellow-green).

  • American standard flanges are equipped to fully comply with the project's electrical and connection standards.

  • The unit panel is made of a composite material of galvanized steel plate + carbon steel + copper, balancing protective performance and structural strength.

  • The noise of a single device at a distance of 1m does not exceed 85dB(A), meeting the industrial environmental noise standard.

Unit Performance

The entire unit can operate stably under T3 high-temperature conditions, perfectly adapting to the usage needs of high-temperature and water-scarce areas. It does not rely on cooling towers, thus avoiding the water shortage issue and reducing the interference of harsh weather on equipment operation.

The cooling system achieves efficient heat exchange via a plate heat exchanger. Hot water at 53can be cooled down to 40through heat exchange for storage and standby use. The 33cold source generated by the cooling unit is heated up to 38via heat exchange and then returned for cooling. This cyclic process realizes continuous and stable cooling supply, which not only meets the demand for industrial cold water sources but also replaces the function of cooling towers, perfectly matching the project's cooling and energy-saving requirements.

Crafted in accordance with ultra-high quality standards, the overall design life of the unit is no less than 25 years, far exceeding the conventional industry level, and providing a solid foundation for the long-term stable operation of the project.
